2014 Ideas for RADICAL ROSARY

I was at the Dominican Family Day 2014.
We were asked to think and discuss ideas for something that could be done to mark the 800 anniversary of the friars foundation.
Out of the blue, and idea came to me that a marvellous thing to do would be to revive the Rosary which was given to Dominicans as the tool of their ministry.

I'm not a great Rosary person myself - most times I only think of saying it when I can't sleep.
What's more, I break all the rules - or most of them:
I only say one decade
I say my own version of the prayers
What I do that I know I can stand over is that I apply the essence of whatever one of the mysteries I'm thinking about to one of the empty spaces in my own life.

So can just one decade, spread over five minutes or more really be a 'rosary'?
It's a good job I'm not saying it to gain 'indulgences'.
In fact, I'm just saying it to say it - to learn it - to see how it applies to my life.

But that way of saying the beads (of course, I don't use beads, I prefer the built-in rosary of my ten fingers!), that way is still very conventional, even if my way of saying it is a bit unconventional.

To be really radical might mean some people letting go some or all of the additions that have accrued over the years. I say some people as I feel adamant (can you 'feel' adamant) that there needs to be a parallel promotion and renewal of those who get a lot out of the traditional way of praying the Rosary. Great graces come through that traditional way, and no way should they be disparaged.

But there is a need for tolerance, for acceptance that no one size fits all. Those who want to experiment with new ways need support and encouragement to do so.
So long as the Word is being proclaimed and incorporated into people's lives, the methodology is secondary.

I just got an email from Fr Gabriel, and will go and see him and see what he says.
It's OK if he says 'do nothing'.
In a way, the idea of a new Rosary Crusade is anathama to me, I'd much rather stay at home in my quiet garden and pray for it to happen. But, somehow, I don't think it will happen if everyone just sits home and prays - Actions speak louder than words - but then what about 'over-actionism'?

Anyway, at this late hour, I am handing this over to ETERNAL LOVE 0 just thought that I need to see the idea in the context of 'eternity', in other words, not to get bogged down in the idea of 'exceptionality'. Even if I do a good average job, in the 'life of the rosary', what I do will be as a tiny drip in the ocean of others love.
More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of (Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Morte D'Arthur)
